As many of you are aware Haiti is going through a massive rebuilding project. We have been praying for those who have lost friends and family on a very large scale. We continue to remind ourselves that our God is in control of this situation much like many others that seem to occupy our minds and hearts on a continual basis. On January 12th the earthquake that lasted only 35 seconds has taken the lives of 225,000 people and that number is continuing to rise. In that same amount of time there were 1 million people that became homeless...and more than 300,000 people injured. I understand that most of you have been following this story as now the tv crews, cameras and journalists leave the area and move onto new stories. This is the moment that we come together and help the Haitian people rebuild schools, hospitals, homes and any type of structure that will establish order.
I am writing this to let many of my friends and family pray for the opportunity I have to go over to Haiti with a group of 25 other people during March 27th -April 3rd to help. World Vision has a school project that we were going to build from the ground up during the time we were there but that has recently been put on hold...so now we are in plan B mode which will entail bringing supplies to areas that have yet to get some very vital supplies. We will be working with Centro Bono' a group that works primarily with Haitians in the Dominican Republic and Haiti. We will be working in Jimani and transporting supplies to Port Au Prince.
They have an abundance of projects that need attention as you could imagine. We will be working with them to deliver medical supplies, water and any other personal items they may need. The cost of this trip is not that considerable but it still would be great if you guys would be willing to donate a little to help with some costs involved. I am headed into the health center to get my vaccines and malaria pills tomorrow. I am starting to get excited for the trip and the people that I can help in the process and also get to know.
